Dry Ingredients:
- 1 ½ cups 190g all-purpose flour: The base of your brownies, providing structure and a soft, chewy texture.
- 1 teaspoon baking powder: Helps the brownies rise slightly giving them a perfect balance of fudgy and cakey.
- ½ teaspoon salt: Enhances the sweetness and balances the flavors.
Wet Ingredients:
- 1 cup 225g unsalted butter, melted: Adds richness and moisture, creating that irresistible fudgy texture.
- 1 ½ cups 300g brown sugar: Provides a deep, caramel-like sweetness and helps keep the brownies moist.
- 2 large eggs: Binds the ingredients together and adds structure.
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract: The star of the show delivering that warm, aromatic vanilla flavor.
Optional Add-Ins:
- 1 cup 175g white chocolate chips: Adds a creamy, sweet contrast to the vanilla base.
- ½ cup 60g chopped nuts (e.g., walnuts or pecans): For a bit of crunch and extra flavor.
- Sprinkles or dried fruit: Fun additions for a pop of color or texture.
Step 1: Preheat and Prepare
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures your oven is at the right temperature for even baking.
Line a 9x9-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it with non-stick spray. This prevents the brownies from sticking and makes cleanup a breeze.
Step 2: Mix the Dry Ingredients
In a medium bowl, whisk together 1 ½ cups (190g) of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, and ½ teaspoon of salt. Set this aside.
Step 3: Combine the Wet Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, melt 1 cup (225g) of unsalted butter and let it cool slightly.
Add 1 ½ cups (300g) of brown sugar to the melted butter and whisk until smooth and well combined.
Crack in 2 large eggs and add 2 teaspoons of pure vanilla extract. Whisk until the mixture is creamy and fully incorporated.
Step 4: Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently with a spatula or whisk until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the brownies dense.
If you’re using any add-ins like white chocolate chips or nuts, fold them into the batter at this stage.
Step 5: Bake the Brownies
Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly with a spatula.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes. To check if they’re done, insert a toothpick into the center—it should come out with a few moist crumbs but not wet batter.
Step 6: Cool and Slice
Remove the pan from the oven and let the brownies cool in the pan for at least 15-20 minutes. This helps them set and makes slicing easier.
Transfer the brownies to a wire rack to cool completely before cutting them into squares.
